The Punjab government’s ration card program is now showing real impact, as over 1.2 million workers have received financial support directly into their bank accounts. So far, around Rs. 22 billion has been transferred, making it one of the largest relief efforts for laborers in the province.
According to Provincial Minister Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt, the process of opening bank accounts was completed in a short time with the help of the social security department. This step ensures that funds reach workers directly without delays or middlemen.
Under the scheme, registered workers are receiving Rs. 3,000 every month as subsidy. The government says this initiative is part of a broader plan to support low-income workers and provide consistent financial relief during rising living costs.
