The Government of Pakistan is preparing to introduce a new digital pension verification system under which pensioners may soon need to verify their Proof of Life through the NADRA app before receiving pension payments. The move is part of a broader effort to modernize and secure the pension disbursement process across the country.
According to reports, the new system will use the National Database and Registration Authority Pak ID app and biometric verification technology to confirm whether pensioners are eligible to continue receiving funds. Around 1.7 million pensioners are expected to be included in this digital verification framework.
Under the proposed setup, pensioners will update their Proof of Life status through the Pak ID app, while banks will verify records through NADRA’s e-Sahulat system. The verification process will use facial recognition, biometric checks, Proof of Life Certificate (POLC), and Family Registration Certificate (FRC) systems.
Officials say commercial banks will also be integrated with NADRA’s “Nishan Pakistan” API system to allow faster and more secure verification before pension payments are released.
The government believes the new digital pension system will reduce fraud, improve transparency, and eliminate delays linked to manual verification processes. Several parts of the project have already been implemented, while full banking integration is still in progress.
Sources also revealed that discussions are underway to reduce certain service charges under a revised financial model, making the system more affordable and accessible for pensioners.
For pensioners, this means the process of receiving pensions could soon become fully digital, with verification possible directly from home through the NADRA app, reducing the need for physical visits and paperwork.
