Govt Orders FIA Probe into Oil Companies – Fuel Hoarding Allegations Surface

The government has taken serious notice of the recent fuel situation, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordering an inquiry into oil marketing companies over alleged hoarding of petroleum products. The investigation has been handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The move comes after reports that some companies may have intentionally held back fuel stock, creating artificial shortages during a time of panic buying linked to regional tensions involving Iran. Initial findings suggest that such practices may have contributed to rising prices and supply disruptions across the country.

Authorities are also examining the role of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) officials, as concerns grow over market manipulation. The FIA is expected to submit its report soon, which could lead to strict action against those found responsible and impact future decisions on compensation and fuel pricing.
