Punjab Allows One-Day Learner & Driving License for Motorcyclists

Motorcycle riders in Punjab have finally received a major relief. The Punjab Traffic Police has introduced a new policy under which both learner and regular driving licenses can now be obtained on the same day, removing the long waiting period that used to frustrate citizens.

Earlier, applicants had to wait around 42 days after getting a learner permit before applying for a regular license. Now, this process has been streamlined to save time and encourage more people to drive legally. Officials say the goal is simple — make licensing easier so more riders follow the law.

According to data, over 2.35 million motorcycle licenses have already been issued this year, including more than 1 million regular licenses. Authorities have also warned that strict action will continue against unlicensed drivers, especially those involved in accidents, while enforcement on helmets, seat belts, and traffic rules is being tightened across Punjab.
